Sudden Vision Changes: Any sudden blurriness, double vision, or partial/complete loss of vision.
Physical Trauma: Cuts, scratches, or punctures on the eye or eyelid.
Foreign Objects: Objects (especially metal shards or glass) embedded in the eye.
Chemical Exposure: Splashes of chemicals or hazardous substances in or around the eyes.
Retinal Symptoms: A sudden burst of new light flashes, or a sudden appearance of numerous floaters/dark spots in your field of vision.
Severe Physical Signs: An eye sticking out of its socket, pupils of unusual size/shapes, or severe, unexplained eye pain often accompanied by headaches or nausea.
Emergency appointments need to call the clinic directly 506-384-2020 to be triaged by staff for the doctor. If our clinic is closed please seek help at the nearest emergency room/hospital.
Routine Eye Exam
Routine Eye Exam includes optomap photos, autorefraction, visual fields, refraction, binocular vision status, interocular eye pressure, pupils, slit lamp assessment of anterior and posterior ocular health and dilation if indicated or requested.
Dry Eye Exam
This is a unique exam: begins with a dry eye questionnaire that is filled in as well at each follow up to monitor comfort. Testing includes visual acuity, reviewing current regime, measuring tear volume, staining the eye surface to best evaluate the cornea, tear break up time (tear evaporation) and education of establishing a healthy eye protocol
Children/Pediatric Eye Exam
Eye exams can start at any age, even infants! We use lights, special equipment, symbols, sing songs to test vision and ocular health in those who have not learned to speak or do not know the alphabet. We have fun with eye games and many reward stickers :)
Soft Contact Lens Fitting
Contact lens prescriptions can be different than eye glasses prescriptions so the prescription may need to be modified and verified. We then walk you through safe insertion and removal techniques. Discuss eye hygiene and safe contact lens practices to ensure success! FREE trial lenses will be given to you to try in ‘real-life’ before you order so that you know this is right for you. You must be able to demonstrate safe insertion and removal by the end of the 30 minute consultation or rebook a second fitting appointment (eye safety first)
Scleral Lens Fitting
Scleral lenses are hard and large lenses that are very comfortable! They are filled with non-preservative solution so the eye is in a ‘bath’ all day. Scleral lenses can be used for patients with very high, unique prescriptions, those with severe dry eyes, over corneal scars, or keratoconus creating optimal vision.
